There will be opportunities for you to become a volunteer at Summit Park throughout the year!
Bird Boxes:

Summit Park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. The birds are one of the easiest animals to see throughout the park. In the forest and prairie areas of the park, our Parks staff has built and installed bird and owl boxes. These boxes are used by the birds for nesting and raising their young.

We are looking for volunteers to help collect data about the bird boxes. What is involved in collecting bird box data? First, you need a pair of shoes that can get a little muddy. The bird boxes are located off the main paths. Then it would be checking on the box(es) you are assigned to once a week until eggs are found, then 2-3 times a week until the box is empty. We will provide you with a sheet to record the data and you will return it to us through email or drop off at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity, please reach out to Sara Tauer at stauer@blueash.com.

Volunteers at Summit Park for invasive species removal. Summit Park Habitat Restoration:

Join Ohio River Foundation in removing harmful invasive plants from Summit Park’s natural areas. At these events, you will get to practice identifying plant species with the experts, learn how removing invasive plants improves our environment, and get a workout!

Volunteers should expect to hand saw, trim, or pull trees, small plants, and/or vines and transport them to the chipper area. Please be prepared for the weather in durable, layered clothing, long pants, long sleeves, a hat, sunglasses, and work gloves. Please wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. A guardian must accompany volunteers under 18 years old.
